Bill Gates Left … What’s next?
An era came to an end - Bill Gates!
No matter how much you hate him, no matter how much you are jealous about him - You should be grateful to him to give you the opportunity to read this blog right here at the moment. I can’t say it was not impossible for us to have information technology or computer in our life without him but I can definitely say it wasn’t so easy without him.
So the man just left the limelight when Microsoft is really in an awkward position. Microsoft was so busy with their operating systems and MS Office that they just forget to think of everything else. They expanded their business to gaming console (X-Box was a good product, but beaten by Sony), tried Zune for music industry (total disaster, even few major retailers taking Zune off the selves) blah blah.
I really can’t understand why their policy makers were unable to predict the future of Internet. Growth of Google pushed them almost out of the search engine market and they are generating nickels and dimes.
Microsoft’s share of the $21.1 billion market for U.S. Web ads slipped to 6.7 percent in 2007 from 9.6 percent in 2004. Few days back, I read an article, if Google’s revenue increases in such proportion, Google will cross Microsoft’s total industry revenue.
Steve Ballmer, the new leader of Microsoft, I find this character little funny – believe me I don’t know why. First he tried to buy Yahoo for $44 billions … Yahoo wasn’t ready. He tried every possible way to persuade Yahoo bosses … come on we won’t buy you … just be partners … we will give you more money. Oh come on … give me a break!
It’s the time to do-or-die situation for Steve … he need to do something very quick. Can he do it? Can he maintain the Company of 90 thousand people, $260 billion market capital to keep their head rise like his predecessor?
Only time can say it!
