Why SEO firms always talk about PPC?
Last week, I joined Chris Cardell’s Entrepreneur Summit 2008. Possible on final day, in morning session he talked about search engines, landing pages, conversion rates etc. I was really amazed to found that he talked about Google Adwords and buying Keywords but he didn’t talk anything about how to search keywords or how anyone can have better SERP without paying any money.
Even at the end of the summit, he asked someone to come to the stage and tell any problem he/she is facing in her business and others to solve he/her problem. A lady came to the state and told that she has a business. She is already paid a lot of money after search engines but she is not getting enough from search engines. All the SEO companies she used, they all promised the best results, but couldn’t proof their claim. However, she want to get to the next stage to market her business online to expand more and more.
As soon as she finished talking about her problem, a number of people turned to solve her problem. Most of people adviced them to engage as SEO company, they can give instant result, they have number of years experience, they are the best in PPC blah blah blah.
Almost at the end, one man turned up and adviced her to go for organic SEO and advice her to take his advice how to do SEO without paying money. She was really impressed to hear that SEO can be done without paying money, as if she heard this for first time in her life. Many people showed the same expression. How funny!
I was just furious. How SEO companies cheating general people about SEO and promising them instant result using their precious money. SEO companies just don’t want to work little hard and do some Off Page SEO, On Page SEO – they just want to receive cheques from their clients.
In my personal experience talking with other attendees, I found that SEO companies never talk about how to link building, article submission, social bookmarking etc at all. While I was talking with my collegue, a gentleman drew my attension and gave me his visiting card and ask me if I can help him with his websites, one of them is about Harley Davidson Motorbikes and accessories.
On that day, I promised myself if I start SEO as profession someday, I would let my client have some idea how to do SEO without spending chunk of money, then tell how to do paid SEO or PPC. Let them decide which way they want to go as natural SEO might take along but that’s last long. While PPC means pay money keep your position, stop paying, you are gone nowhere.

Salam Jinnat,
Nice to find a SEO enthusiastic in Bangladesh. I also hate the fact that people want to see quick results. There many SEO clients who wants to see search engine traffic rather than organic search engine referrals. They also needs to be blamed.

I do not totally agree with you.. It is the same with ANY business, they pay for the convenience of somebody else doing it for them.
What your saying to me is that if you had a restaurant, would you tell your customers how to make your special dish at home for a lot cheaper, and then letting them decide whether or not to eat at your restaurant?
I really hope this is not how you do business.. but then again.. i’ve seen worse things

Dear Dutchezz,
I’m quite sure you have not understand what I tried to mean. I’m not telling SEO companies to give their clients all their secrets.
Lets, take your example – Pay-per-click is like caviar. Not all the client can afford, and Restaurants are only offering caviar. How it will feel? There should be some cheap foods as well.
PPC is a shortcut way to fast success. Again I’m not telling SEO companies to do organic SEO for free. As they are giving their time and effort – they have to charge their clients.
I want to see SEO companies are offering two options, expensive shortest path(PPC) and inexpensive long path(organic SEO). Hope you understand.
