Okay … We are not going to jail now!
Everyday, whenever I opened any website for last few days, one common subject was coming up again and again. What the future of YouTube’s viewers - after New York federal judge ordered Google to turn over YouTube user data to help Viacom and other plaintiffs prepare their case against what they claim are vast piracy violations on the video-sharing site.
Some people were saying whoever uploaded or viewed copyright materials from YouTube, will be prosecuted and put into the jail …. etc. However, today, according to The New York Times, Google and Viacom reached to an agreement, to blanked out YouTube database’s user names and internet address before providing to Viacom. Everyone can take some breath for some moment about their privacy and hopefully we are not going to jail!
Viacom, owner of Paramount and MTV Networks, sought the information as part of its $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit against YouTube and its parent, Google.
