Alexa.com starts using Google Premium Adsense Advertisements

  • Sharebar

While checking my visitors details in Alexa.com, I noticed they are using Google Premium Adsense advertisement in the pages. Previously they used to use Adbrite’s ads block. I’m always a fan of Google Adsense – adsense bot is so powerful and accurate that within a minute, it can decide best appropriate ads for any post. While Adbrite keep showing same advertisement again and again.

However, Google’s Premium Adesense Publishing account, itself is a privilege. A very few highly visited websites can have this type of advertisement. It’s a secret how Google determine to invite webmasters for Premium accounts – but after reading few blogs and articles, I’ve found the following requirements for Premium Adsense accounts:

For starters, you site must have more than 20 million pageviews or at least 5 million search queries. That breaks down to about 160k search queries on daily basis.

What’s the benefits:

  • More flexibility in ad formats
  • Optional labeling of ads, this ads blocks don’t show Ads by Google, instead it says either ‘Sponsored Ads’ or ‘Sponsored links’
  • Google sales representative & account manager
  • Advanced filtering options
  • More monetization options

Websites like Major newspapers, answers.com, linkedin.com are using Premium Adsense advertisement. But surprisingly most of their ads blocks are not blended with the content though Google offer them wide range of customization. However, I really like answers.com’s ads placement and customization.

Anyway, I was talking about Alexa.com’s premium advertisement – their placement is fine but customization is just ugly. I guess they haven’t done any customization at all.

What a waste!

I believe that it’s very hard to be a premium publisher with one or few personal websites, unless you have very very popular websites with multi-author environment.

Anyway, wish you good luck!
