Google releases Sustainable Computing Plan
In a blog posting on 1st October, Google again showed their commitment to sustainable computing. According to Google, Google-designed data centers use nearly five times less energy than conventional facilities to feed and cool the computers inside. Great!
Google has published a new website on Sustainable Computering and explained their five steps plan to achieve the target to become a carbon-neutral company.
- Minimize electricity used by servers
- Reduce the energy used by the data center facilities themselves
- Conserve precious fresh water by using recycled water instead
- Reuse or recycle all electronic equipment that leaves our data centers
- Engage with our peers to advance smarter energy practices
