Google rolls out semantic search and longer snippets

Today, Google rolled out two new features in their search result. First feature is very important, they are offering semantic search capabilities, means from now Google will show more associations and concept related search results. Semantic search is considered to be the future of searching and Google was criticised long for not deploying this feature in their searching algorigthm.

However, Google explains like following:

For example, if you search for [principles of physics], our algorithms understand that “angular momentum,” “special relativity,” “big bang” and “quantum mechanic” are related terms that could help you find what you need. Here’s an example (click on the images in the post to view them larger):

In other feature, Google will show longer snippets for each search result. As a result, reader will have see more clearly how his search terms appears in the search result. At the moment, search result snippet is not enough for long search terms, it only highlights first few words from the search result. Long snippets will help to get better understanding of the result before visiting the link – definitely it will save time.
