What is Twitter?

I guess today it’s almost a dumb question ‘What is Twitter?’. Twitter has become a internet phenomenon. It has become so popular that even Facebook, Google are tempted to acquire it. Just for record, Wiki says – Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers).

Can you imagine the time I’m composing this blog Ashton Kutcher has 1,185,751 followers in his Twitter account. So if you still don’t have idea about Twitter or you want to join discussion about Twitter with your friends, Twitter in Plain English would be a nice start.
