WordPress is the most popular blogging platform in the world. Nowadays, WordPress has so many features that it can be used as a CMS (Content Management System). As it has minimal requirement, it’s quite easy to install and maintain over any server settings. I bet that anyone without any previous programming or web development experience can install WordPress in just 5 minutes.
Here I’m going to show you a quick step-by-step installation guide for WordPress onto your server:
- Download the lastest stable WordPress package and decompress / unzip it. You can use any decompress software, I personally use WinRAR as an archive manager.
- Upload all the files and folders under wordpress folder to your webserver using any FTP software. I use GoDaddy, Bluehost and HostGator for my hosting services. For FTP software, you can use FileZilla – it’s free and very simple to use.
- Create a MySQL database and a user in your webhosting and make sure you have authorized all access to that user.
- Once you finish uploading all WordPress files and folders in your web server, just type your domain name in a browser and it will show the following screen:
Enter all the necessary information about your database in the form and press “Submit”. Then you will find this screen:
Enter your website title and email address associate with this blog here. If you want to allow the spiders from different search engine then make sure the next checkbox is checked and press “Install WordPress”. You can see this screen next:
Copy the password WordPress has created for you. This password is uniquely generated and also sent to your provided email address. You can change the password later from your installed WordPress Dashboard. Press “Log In” and it will show you the login screen. Enter your login details here:
- That’s it.

Joomla, maybe the most powereul CMS. But installation of Wordpress is more easy than joomla.
