Jay Adelson, from Digg today informed that Digg is to receive $28.7 million from Highland Capital Partners.

He announced their major expansion will be funded with the fresh investment. Money is expected to spend after the following:

• Infrastructure
• New feature development
• International expansion
• Hiring new people

It’s been 4 months, I’ve started blogging under www.hasan-online.com and today according to Akismet 1008 spam comments has been successfully identified and blocked. Lets do a little calculation:

1008 comments in 4 months, 252 spam comments in a month, over 8 spam comments a day!

Now, just a little thought - those who are spamming, they know that now-a-days everyone is using spam blocker in their blog, so there is no way that any spam comments will be published. Again authors will not visit those links as well - so what’s the benefit of this spamming?

When spammers send spam emails - some people visit those links, so there is a chance of getting some return of spam email but to me, there is not chance, absolutely no chance of getting result, Still people are spamming.

What a shame!

First of all, I’m quite young, just 27 now and have no doubt in my capacity. hahahaha ….

Everyday, while checking my inbox, I check my spam box as well. Sometimes I find important emails are in spam box. However, today, one email came to my attension. I was quite sure that was spam but while I reading, I just can’t help laughing.

It says “You are receiving this e-mail because you subscribed to MSN Featured Offers. Microsoft respects your privacy. If you do not wish to receive this MSN Featured Offers e-mail, please click the “Unsubscribe” link below. This will not unsubscribe you from e-mail communications from third-party advertisers that may appear in MSN Feature Offers.”

Today, I was reading The New York Times and came across a very interesting article. It’s a long article but reflects the true situation of work place problem. It shows how mobile phone calls, email checking or instant messaging is hampering our productivity.

Download.com is an Internet download directory website, launched in 1996 as a part of CNET. The Software section of the site includes over 100,000 freeware, shareware, and try-first downloads. Downloads are often rated and reviewed by editors, and also contain a summary of the file from the software publisher, and one or more screenshots. Users may also write reviews and log their ratings on a scale of 1-5 stars.

I always find Download.com statistics very interesting. As of 2nd June, 2008, list the top 10 most downloaded software list, 4 are off Computer Security related softwares, AVG Anti-virus Free Edition, Ad-Ware, Avast Home Edition and Avira AntiVir Personal. It shows that people are very concern or suffering from security ordeals.

New member in Top 10 club is VersionTracker Pro, it detects out-of-date drivers and updates automatically. Personally I’ve not use this software yet, but I believe it’s a wonderful idea to have such an useful tool installed in computer.
