It’s just been 3 days I reported that Answers.com link from Google’s definition service was not visible - Google Removed Answers.com Link From Search Results. Today I noticed Google’s definition service is back and it is redirecting to Answers.com - nice to see it back.

Amazingly, I’ve not found enough blogs about it … I’m not sure if anyone noticed this change at all.

In a blog posting on 1st October, Google again showed their commitment to sustainable computing. According to Google, Google-designed data centers use nearly five times less energy than conventional facilities to feed and cool the computers inside. Great!

Google has published a new website on Sustainable Computering and explained their five steps plan to achieve the target to become a carbon-neutral company.

1. Minimize electricity used by servers
2. Reduce the energy used by the data center facilities themselves
3. Conserve precious fresh water by using recycled water instead
4. Reuse or recycle all electronic equipment that leaves our data centers
5. Engage with our peers to advance smarter energy practices

Today it came to my notice that Google has removed Answers.com link from it’s search results. Previously most of the search phrases were linked with Answers.com and interested searchers would check the definitions of a specific word.

Personally I used this service very frequently and I was happy with the system. I guess Answers.com earned a handsome money from this redirecting service as well, as they are Google’s Premier Adsense Publisher and they blended Google ads very nicely and to be honest it was hard to separate the ads from the content.

Hopefully Google will substitute Answers.com’s service with some better options.

It seems Google will be updating PageRank records in very 2 months period. In July, PageRank was updated and now again in last week there was another PageRank update. I wish PageRank really show some SERP valuation - like higher pagerank websites will come first in SERP. But it don’t really happen in real life.

I’ve observed that Google is updated backlinks very quick now, you can search backlinks using http://www.google.com/search?q=link:http://www.hasan-online.com - you have to replace “www.hasan-online.com” with your own website address. Previously Google used to update backlinks only when they update PageRank - but now they are updating backlinks even their is not PR update.

Today Google has officially published their 10th Birthday logo in their homepage … as always it neat, clean and I just love it!

Earlier Google published an interactive timeline to go through their 10 years journey, by year, by month - full of information, referenece and other details.

When the news came that Google is about to acquire Video game maker Valve Software, everyone thought that Google would be most interested in the company is its Steam Powered technology, a multipurpose online hub with throngs of users. According to Valve, Steam had 15 million account holders and during peak hours, online activity crests at about 1.2 million users every day.

But news became a pure rumour when Kotaku, a game website, published following news Valve Kills Google Buy-Out Rumor. They said:
